Provost's Series on Instructional Excellence Features Guest Speaker
Christian Pfeiffer, professor emeritus of law and criminologist, University of Hanover, is the guest speaker for the Provost's Series on Instructional Excellence. In a rare evening presentation, he speaks Thursday, April 16, at 7 p.m., Eccles Conference Center Auditorium, USU Logan campus.
Presenting “Should Spanking Children be Forbidden in the United States? – the European Experience” at the Provost’s Series on Instructional Excellence is invited guest speaker Christian Pfeiffer.
Professor Emeritus of Law and Criminologist, University of Hanover, Pfeiffer speaks Thursday, April 16, at 7 p.m. at the Eccles Conference Center’s auditorium on the Utah State University campus. The presentation is free and open to everyone.
Pfeiffer is currently an invited scholar at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York. His extensive career seeded his hopes to extend a campaign against corporal punishment of children from Germany to the United States. His service includes minister of justice of the German state of Lower Saxony, president of German Juvenile Court Association, 29 year veteran director of the Criminological Research Institute of Lower Saxony and a contributor to national media.
Pfeiffer’s publication and research interests regard the role of religion and child rearing practices in the production of violence; role of media in lives of children, perception of crime and criminal policy, and the implications of corporal punishment on children in politics.
