Provost's Series on Instructional Excellence — October 28

The Provost’s Series on Instructional Excellence, sponsored by the office of the executive vice president and provost at Utah State University, offers another session Tuesday, Oct. 28. The series is open to all USU faculty members.

The title of the presentation is “The Simplest Way to get Things Done in Canvas” and is presented by Neal Legler and John Louviere from 3:30-5 p.m. at Merrill-Cazier Library, Room 154. The session will also be broadcast to a number of venues around the state (see list below).

The presentation will focus on organizing course content in Canvas. There will be an emphasis on creating online learning environments that provide efficiencies for teachers and students while visually representing the high quality professional standards of Utah State University.

Legler is the assistant director for the Center for Innovative Design and Instruction, where he has worked since 2007. He has more than 10 years of instructional design experience for higher education, K-12, corporate and non-profit clients. He sits on the Canvas product advisory board and has experience working with most major higher education learning management systems and a wide range of educational technologies.

Louviere, director of the Center for Innovative Design and Instruction, has an educational background and training in engineering and technology education and instructional technology. He has been involved in education throughout his professional career working in K-12 as a teacher, and in government programs as a manager for Colorado’s office of Innovation and Technology. His experiences as a teacher and technologist have resulted in specialization of online course development, with an emphasis on usability and, most recently, learner analytics.
