Presidents Hall and Essig Pen Tsunami Letter

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff of Utah State University,

 

On behalf of the university, we extend our heartfelt condolences to all who have been affected by the tragic tsunami in South Asia. We are stunned by the magnitude of the crisis, yet inspired by the outpouring of concern and offers of assistance from our students, faculty and staff.

 

Utah State’s Counseling Center and International Students and Scholars office stand ready to assist any students, faculty or staff who have been personally impacted by this disaster and need support. Both of these offices are located in the Taggart Student Center.

 

A number of student-led relief efforts are in progress and the Associated Students of Utah State University (ASUSU) will soon announce a campus-wide relief campaign, involving student, faculty and staff organizations.

 

Additionally, plans are underway for a campus-wide memorial gathering to be held on January 26. Details of this event and fundraising efforts will be announced soon via the university Web site and the Statesman newspaper.

 

Utah State University has strong ties to the regions impacted by the tsunami disaster through our students, faculty, alumni, educational outreach and research efforts. Our hope is to provide a strong, sustained contribution to efforts to rebuild broken lives and dreams.
