President to Visit All Departments on Campus
Utah State University President Stan Albrecht will spend the next several months canvassing campus, making visits to every department at the university. Joining the president for the visits are Executive Vice President and Provost Raymond T. Coward and Chief of Staff Sydney Peterson.
The departmental visits replace what is usually referred to as the State-of-the-University address.
“I want to see the highlights of each department on campus,” Abrecht said. “I want to find out about the health of the institution.”
The individual visits allow the administrative team to meet in smaller group settings. Most of the tour visits are scheduled during the department’s usual meeting time, and provide faculty a chance to ask questions or raise issues and concerns they might have. There is no set agenda to the meetings, which are characterized as open and casual. Each visit also includes a tour of the department’s facilities.
“I’m there to listen,” Albrecht said. “I want to get to know the faculty better and to see what’s working and what is not.”
