President Attends Ceremony at New School

Utah State University President Stan Albrecht, joined by First Lady Joyce Albrecht, attended an open house and dedication for the new Rose A. Young Elementary School at Three Mile Creek in Perry, Utah.

The school is named in honor of Rose A. Young, mother of long-time Utah State University supporter Dale W. Young.

Dr. Young and his wife, Adele C. Young, have supported a number of programs and projects at Utah State University, especially in the College of Agriculture and College of Education and Human Services. Among their numerous contributions to the university, their financial support made possible a teaching greenhouse on campus. The greenhouse is named in their honor.

The Albrechts attended the school ceremony as guests of the Youngs.

The Rose A. Young Elementary School honors the memory of Rose Young who was described as "the unofficial counselor of Perry youth as well as a promoter of their education," in an earlier Box Elder News Journal story. She was a member of the Box Elder County School Board and was a two-term member of the Perry City Council. Service to community and education were hallmarks of her life.
