Pres. Mortensen Updates Employees on USU's Strategic Planning Process
Editor’s note: This message from USU President Brad L. Mortensen was sent via email to all USU faculty and staff Monday afternoon.
Dear Faculty and Staff,
As we close out the spring semester, I wanted to share a brief update on the strategic planning work taking place.
Over the past couple of months, we have identified five teams of faculty, staff, and administrators for our four focal areas: Utah Statewide Impact, Student Success and Value, Discovery with Purpose, and Civic-Mindedness. We split our Student Success and Value group into two groups, with one focused on academic planning and one focused on student success planning.
These teams include people from across the university, and the work is designed to be ongoing. Each year, the teams will set priorities, develop groups to carry out the work, and report back on what they accomplished. Regular updates will be provided in The Memo.
I know this is a busy time full of final grades being entered and celebration. What continues to stand out to me is the care people bring to our institution and to each other. That’s what makes this university work. Our goal with this plan is to match that commitment by being thoughtful about where we invest, clear about what matters most, and steady in moving USU forward for our students, our employees, and the communities we serve across the state.
If you have a few minutes, I encourage you to learn more about the plan, the people leading this work, individuals on the teams, and information on how to get involved on the strategic planning website.
Thank you for all you do for our students, our research mission, and our statewide communities.
Go Aggies!
