Photographer Shows Industrial Environment
The Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art at Utah State University presents “Industrial Ethos,” an exhibit focusing on the intrigue of the industrial environment through the work of photographer Chris Dunker.
“Many industrial sites and fixtures go unseen due to access restrictions,” said Dunker. “This exhibit provides a behind the scene glimpse into local industries that viewers may not have seen before.”
With 25 years of experience, Dunker has photographed local companies, including ThermoFisher Scientific, Icon Health and Fitness and Miller Beef. Dunker also collects anything industrial, such as illustrations of machines from early corporate reports.
As part of the exhibit, highlights from Dunker’s personal collection will also be on display. His fascination with urban decay is portrayed in his selection of industrial architecture and the sculptural shapes of the machines inside.
An opening reception is Friday, Feb. 1, at 5 p.m. in the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art, located in the Chase Fine Arts Center on USU’s campus. The reception is free and open to the public, with light refreshments provided.
Industrial Ethos is on display through the end of May at the museum, open Monday through Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information, contact the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum at 435-797-0163 or visit the museum’s website.
