Not-so-picky Eaters

Why on earth would herbivores such as Holstein steers eat dead rabbits? Because the steers grazed a pasture grown on phosphorus-deficient soils, says USU researcher Fred Provenza. Animals deficient in nutrients seek out new foods and form preferences for foods they'd normally refuse if the food corrects the imbalance.
