Night on the Quad
Utah State students are invited to experience a night sleeping outside on Friday, Sept. 23, beginning at 6:30 p.m. as part of Night on the Quad, organized by Students Together Ending Poverty, S.T.E.P. The event has been organized to raise awareness of those living in poverty. The group is part of the Val R. Christensen Service Center.
"This activity is a fun way to educate students and community about the difficult circumstances of needy people in our community, and bring awareness to an important issue," said Brooke Wilberg, co-director of S.T.E.P.
The event is part of Utah State's service week. Students are encouraged to bring school supplies for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Service tables with individual service projects will be set up on the Quad. Projects include sorting Katrina donations and painting wooden toys.
"Being a part of S.T.E.P. is an amazing opportunity," said co-director Ben Szilagyi. "The organization provides opportunities to be involved in activities around campus, but also to know that you are really making an impact in the world."
