New Faculty Welcomed with Reception

A reception for new faculty members at Utah State University was hosted by President Stan Albrecht and First Lady Joyce Albrecht at the president’s home Aug. 20.

President Albrecht and Vice President and Provost Raymond Coward welcomed 36 new faculty.

Unique to this new crop of faculty is the fact that they are all assistant professors.

The patio reception included entertainment by the Lightwood Duo, a group that includes USU music department faculty member and guitar program head Mike Christiansen. New faculty and spouses attended the event and were introduced by their college deans.

In a personal touch, Joyce Albrecht provided bread and homemade jam to the new faculty as a welcome gift.

USU has some 850 faculty who provide education for more than 23,000 undergraduate and graduate students, including 10,000 in its distance education sites located throughout the state of Utah.
