National Geographic Logan Canyon Book Available

Utah State University professor Michael Sweeney will autograph copies of Last Unspoiled Place, Utah’s Logan Canyon and speak about his writing experiences April 11 at 7 p.m. at the historic Cache County Courthouse. Last Unspoiled Place is Sweeney’s most recent book and was recently released by the National Geographic Society.

 

“I’ve written seven books, but this is the one that I am most passionate about,” Sweeney said. “Who wouldn’t want to do research for a book by spending every free minute in Logan Canyon — one of my favorite places on Earth?”

 

Last Unspoiled Place brings to life the legends, culture, geology, flora and fauna of the 41 miles of the Logan Canyon National Scenic Byway from Logan to Bear Lake.

 

The full-color, coffee table publication is only available through the National Geographic’s subscription series, but by special arrangement, copies are being sold exclusively at the Cache Valley Visitors Bureau gift shop. Supply is limited.

 

“It took some serious arm-wrestling to get National Geographic’s permission to sell these books, but we knew residents and visitors would be extremely impressed by the publication,” said Julie Hollist, Visitors Bureau director.
