Naked Barbies, Warrior Joes

In her studies of mass-produced material culture, Utah State University researcher Jeannie Banks Thomas notes that female figures are often sexualized while men are armored for war. Barbie and G.I. Joe dolls are a case in point. Thomas says such ordinary objects reflect and reinforce prevailing gender stereotypes.
