Mountain West Announces Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference Teams

Nine Utah State [University] student-athletes earned all-conference accolades a total of 16 times as the Mountain West announced its Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field honors Monday [May 18, 2015].

All-conference selections were awarded to the top-three finishers in each event of the 2015 MW Outdoor Championships, which were held May 13-16 in San Diego, Calif.

Utah State's Parker Bluth earned three all-conference honors for finishing first in all three of his events, including the 100m (10.34 seconds), 200m (20.52) and 4x400m relay (3:07.48). The junior from Riverton, Utah, was also tabbed the Men's Outstanding Performer of the Meet. Bluth has now earned 12 indoor and outdoor all-conference honors in his career.

Senior Chari Hawkins also earned three all-conference honors as she finished first in both the heptathlon (5,622 points) and high jump (1.76m/5-09.25), as well as took second in the long jump (5.92m/19-05.25). The native of Rexburg, Idaho, also earned the Women's Outstanding Performer of the Meet honors. Hawkins has now earned 21 indoor and outdoor all-conference honors in her career.

Other Aggies to earn MW all-conference accolades included junior Kevin Allen (discus), junior Tanner Hunt (400m, 4x400m), junior Cole Lambourne (400m, 4x400m), freshman Clay Lambourne (400m, 4x400m) senior Eric Shellhorn (3,000m steeplechase), sophomore Colby Wilson (3,000m steeplechase) and junior Maci Bingham (hammer).

Utah State finished in fourth place on both the men's and women's side at the Outdoor Championships.

Utah State's outdoor track and field teams will continue their season next weekend as qualifying individuals will compete in the first round of the NCAA Championships, which will be held Thursday through Saturday, May 28-30, in Austin, Texas. The Aggies sent 18 student-athletes to the first round of last year's NCAA Championships.
