Memorial Service Scheduled for Former USU Faculty Member Kim Brandt
A memorial service for former Utah State University faculty member Kim Brandt is Monday, April 30, at 5 p.m. at the Caine Lyric Theatre in downtown Logan.
Brandt was a faculty member in USU’s Theatre Arts Department and worked with hundreds of students during his career as a lighting technician. From Old Main to the Chase Fine Arts Center to the Lyric Theatre, Brandt designed lighting for the department, the Valley Dance Ensemble and other dance and theater stage productions. Brandt was a skilled teacher, and several of his students became respected practitioners of the exacting craft of theater lighting.
Brant’s career at USU began in 1961, when he moved to Logan from New York. He retired from USU in 1991. Following retirement, he continued his extensive volunteer work with his church and in the community. Shortly before his death he returned to New York to provide care for a relative. Brandt died Nov. 29, 2006.
All who knew Brandt are invited to the memorial service at 28 West Center Street. A reception follows the short service.
