THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME — Utah State [University] gymnastics is set for its third home meet of the season. This season was the first time since 2011 that the Aggie gymnasts opened the season at home. Utah State also has home meets against Southern Utah (Feb. 20) and BYU (March 13).

HURD NIGHT — Utah State gymnastics has a special theme for four of the five home meets, including Friday’s “Greek Night/Alumni Night.” The winning chapter of the Greek challenge will win a signed pair of grips, and it will be announced before the final rotation. Participating alumni will be announced before the final results at the meet on Friday. The next planned theme night is “Pink Night” against Southern Utah Feb. 20.

TUNING IN — Friday’s meet will be streamed live at utahstateaggies.tv at no cost for fans. Additionally, live scores will be available at http://bit.ly/168Ws5H. Links to both will be posted on the Utah State Athletics website on Friday. Fans can also follow the Utah State gymnastics social media outlets for meet updates.

GYMNAST OF THE WEEK — Utah State senior Sarah Landes was named the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Gymnast of the Week for the fourth week of competition. The Edmond, Okla., native posted a 39.225 in the all-around against No. 12 Boise State and UC Davis. Landes recorded runner-up finishes on vault (9.850) and floor (9.800), while also tying for third on bars (9.800) and tying for seventh on beam (9.775) as the Aggies finished second as a team to Boise State, 195.975-194.275.

BEAMING WITH PRIDE — Utah State recorded a 49.275 on beam in its meet against BYU, good for the third highest beam score in school history. The Aggies were led by senior Sarah Landes and junior McKinzey Martinez who both tied for first on the event with a 9.875.

SCOUTING THE FALCONS — The Falcons are led by Sydney Clark, who competes in the all-around for SPU and averages a 38.200 all-around score. Clark recorded a career-high 9.800 on floor in the Falcons’ last meet against Alaska-Anchorage. Tracie Villanueva has posted a 9.825 on bars to lead the team on that event, while Ariana Harger has recorded a 9.750 on the vault this season. Kristi Hayashida recorded a 9.825 on beam in SPU’s season-opener earning Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Women's Gymnastics Specialist of the Week honors, and Clark's 9.800 is the Falcons' highest floor score this season.

The Falcons are coached by Laurel Tindell, who is in her 35th year as the SPU’s head coach. Under her watch, SPU has earned three NCAA Division II national championships, and she has coached 20 gymnasts to individual national titles. She has four national coach of the year honors. She also guided the Falcons to 20-consecutive top-four finishes from 1984-2003, which included the 1997 national championship. She has coached athletes to earn All-American honors 144 times during her career.
