Luncheon Spotlights Women's Athletic Programs
Utah State University First Lady Joyce Albrecht and Becky Spetman, wife of Athletics Director Randy Spetman, hosted a luncheon that put Utah State's women's athletics programs in the spotlight.
Attending were Utah State's female coaches and the spouses and partners of other coaches. Donors who support women's athletics at Utah State also attended. Those attending took time to introduce themselves and Mer Lynn Pitcher, wife of Regent Jed Pitcher, spoke of her loyalty and support of Utah State University and its various women's' programs.
It was a gathering to meet new additions to Utah State and to get acquainted with each other.
"It was a great way for the women to get to know Joyce Albrecht and see how very much she supports athletics," Becky Spetman said. "She understands the sacrifices the coaches' families are making to help their spouses be successful. Having female donors in attendance was also beneficial. Women of the athletic department got to personally thank them for supporting Utah State's athletic programs and to see how passionately they love the Aggies."
Shawn Guy, wife of head football coach, Brent Guy, enjoyed the event.
"This was a great opportunity for the new football wives to get to meet everyone," she said. "When you are new, it is sometimes hard to get to know the women from other sports, and to get to meet women from the community was an added treat. We appreciate what they do for athletics so much."
Raegan Pebley, head women's basketball coach, also enjoyed the gathering.
"I just think it was awesome to feel the camaraderie of everyone in the room," she said. "Whether we are coaches or wives of coaches, as women, we all have that passion for our families and athletics. Sometimes we get caught up in our own worlds, with the highs and lows of our own lives, and to know we have others going through those same things brings us all closer together. And these wonderful community women who love and support Aggie athletics are a part of that closeness; a part of our Aggie family."
