Lowered Flags Honor Utah Soldier
Utah Gov. Jon M. Huntsman, Jr., has authorized the lowering of the national and state flags Saturday, July 28. Flags will be flown at half-staff at all state facilities from sunrise to sunset in honor of Sergeant Nathan S. Barnes.
Sgt. Barnes died July 17, 2007, in Rushdi Mullah, Iraq, as a result of small arms fire. He was assigned to C Company, 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York.
Sgt. Barnes's parents, Kevin and Donna Barnes, reside in American Fork, Utah.
Funeral services are scheduled July 28 at noon at the Alpine Tabernacle, 100 East Main Street, American Fork.
