Logan City Fire Department to Conduct Interagency Hazmat Exercise at USU Logan Campus on March 17

LOGAN, Utah — The Logan City Fire Department will conduct a comprehensive hazardous materials exercise at USU’s Maverik Stadium starting at 8 a.m. Monday, March 17, with minimal disruption to campus activities.

The training is in collaboration with the Utah National Guard Civil Support Team and the FBI Salt Lake Field Office Hazmat Team. All training activities will be confined to the designated area on the Maverick Stadium South Concourse. The exercise is expected to conclude at 3 p.m.

This training initiative aims to enhance interagency coordination and preparedness in responding to potential hazardous material incidents.

"By fostering a strong partnership with the Logan Fire Department, Utah State University ensures a safer, more resilient campus community,” said Ellis Bruch, executive director for the USU Department of Public Safety. “Together, we enhance emergency preparedness, promote fire safety education and build a foundation of trust and collaboration that benefits everyone."

Participating agencies will arrive at 8 a.m. and stage their response vehicles within the fenced area of the South Concourse.
