'Living on Earth' Radio Host Steve Curwood to Speak Oct. 7 at USU

Steve Curwood, host and executive producer of Public Radio International’s Living on Earth program, presents “Green is the New Red, White and Blue” Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Utah State University. His talk, free and open to all, begins at 11 a.m. in the Taggart Student Center Stevenson Ballroom.

A former reporter and host of NPR’s Weekend All Things Considered, Curwood is a seasoned print and television journalist and the recipient of a shared Pulitzer Prize for his work at The Boston Globe. He’s currently at work on the book, The Good News about Global Warming, which, according to his Web site, details the economic, social, ecological and national security benefits of facing the carbon emergency that threatens our civilization.

Broadcast on more than 260 National Public Radio affiliates and heard on Armed Forces Radio Network, Living on Earth is a weekly environmental news program featuring interviews and commentary on a broad range of ecological issues. Supported by the National Science Foundation, the program has received the Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio and Television News Directors Association, among other prestigious recognitions.

Curwood’s talk, during USU’s Natural Resources Week, is sponsored by Utah Public Radio, USU’s College of Natural Resources, the Stokes Natural Center and BIO-West.
