'Lincoln Bicentennial Celebration Concert' Airs on Utah Public Radio

The American Festival Chorus presented the “Lincoln Bicentennial Celebration” concert Jan. 31, and an airing of the concert is planned on Utah Public Radio Thursday, Feb. 12, the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth.

The concert can be heard on the UPR broadcast, or visitors can go online to the station’s Live Streaming FM/HD1.

 

The original concert was heard by a sold-out audience. The American Festival Chorus is a community-based choir under the direction of Craig Jessop, head of USU’s Music Department. The concert included patriotic favorites and A Lincoln Portrait by Aaron Copland with narration by Utah Sen. Bob Bennett. Special guest artist for the evening was internationally known gospel and jazz singer Pamela Laws, and USU Theatre Arts Department faculty member Kevin Doyle was MC for the evening and narrator for the story of The Battle Hymn of the Republic.
