Legislature and Governor Honor Outgoing Utah State University President Kermit L. Hall

Outgoing Utah State University President Kermit L. Hall was honored by the Utah Legislature and Gov. John Huntsman on the morning of Jan 21, 2005, with House Concurrent Resolution Nine.

 

The opening paragraph of the resolution reads, "This concurrent resolution of the Legislature and Governor expresses appreciation to outgoing Utah State University President Kermit L. Hall for his years of service to the students, faculty, and staff of the university, and for his commitment to excellence."

 

The resolution was sponsored by Rep. Fred Hunsaker. Hall and his wife, Phyllis,  were recognized on the floor of both the House and the Senate. Approximately 25 legislators individually stood and thanked Hall for his service and commented on positive personal and professional experiences with President Hall. Hall received a standing ovation from both the House and Senate. Hall addressed both groups and thanked them for their support.

 

The four-page resolution noted many of Hall's specific contributions to Utah State. A copy of the resolution was presented to Hall and his wife on the floor of the Senate.

 

Hall served as Utah State president for four years. On Feb 1 he will begin serving as president of the State University of New York at Albany. Stan Albrecht was named by the Utah Board of Regents to serve as the next president of Utah State.
