Learn African Dance at the USU Museum of Anthropology

The Saturday activity series continues at Utah State University’s Museum of Anthropology. This week guests are invited to learn and watch African dance.

Activities take place Saturday, Nov. 10. Visitors will be treated to a special lesson and demonstration of African dance by instructor Jaynan Chancellor, who has studied African dance for the past eight years, attending classes and workshops taught by master teachers.

 

USU students and members of the public are invited to drop in any time during the museum’s new 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday hours. Dance begins at noon.

 

“There’s nothing else like it,” said the museum’s African dance instructor. “Dancing to ancient rhythms, you feel an incredible body-soul symbiosis. It’s a great way to express tradition, culture and feelings.”

 

The USU Museum of Anthropology is on the Utah State University campus in the south turret of the historical Old Main building, room 252. Free parking is available in the adjacent lot, south of the building.
