John Louviere featured in Provost's Series on Instructional Excellence

John Louviere, director of the Center for Innovative Design and Instruction, offers his insights at the Provost’s Series on Instructional Excellence in a presentation titled “Advancing Teaching Excellence with CIDI and CLMS.” The session is Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 3:30-5 p.m., at Merrill-Cazier Library, Room 154.

The session is open to all faculty.

The presentation will illustrate the use of Canvas in any course taught at USU, including a broad overview of features, tools, recommended practices and available support. Attendees should leave the session with an understanding of how Canvas and its integrated tools can be used to organize course content, share multimedia, grade assignments and communicate with students. Technical solutions that overcome challenges with copyright, plagiarism and grading workflows will be provided.

For those who cannot attend the session on the Logan campus, it will be broadcast to a number of venues. The presentation will also be broadcast.

Louviere, the session presenter, has a background in education in engineering, technology education and instructional technology. He has worked in education throughout his professional career working in K-12 as a teacher and in government as programs manager for Colorado’s office of Innovation and Technology. His experiences as a teacher and technologist have resulted in specialization of online course development, with an emphasis on usability and, most recently, learner analytics.
