Jazz Big Bands Present Fall Concert

Utah State University Jazz Big Bands present the annual fall concert Nov.  18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Morgan Theatre at the Chase Fine Arts Center on USU’s Logan campus. The performance features two big bands, the Jazz Orchestra and the Jazz Ensemble.

“The USU Jazz Ensemble is extremely excited to present its portion of the November concert,” said Greg Wheeler, professor and assistant director of jazz studies in the Caine College of the Arts. “The many moods of the night’s program will leave the audience wanting more.”

The Jazz Ensemble will perform songs from artists that include Eduardo de Goes, Dave Frishberg, Woody Herman, Bobby Darin, Oliver Nelson and Bill Holman.

The Jazz Orchestra will also play a variety of music from artists, including Ernie Wilkins, Frank Foster, Phil Wilson, Radiohead and The Brecker Brothers.

“The USU Jazz Orchestra, will thrill the audience with some of the greatest big band hits,” said Jon Gudmunson, the director of jazz studies in the CCA. “The orchestra assures the public their performance will be second to none.”

Tickets for the Jazz Big Bands performance are $10 adults, $8 seniors and youth, $5 USU faculty and staff and free for USU students with ID.
