Jason Hardink Performs at USU
Pianist Jason Hardink, artistic director of the NOVA Chamber Music Series and principal keyboard of the Utah Symphony, will perform a solo recital in Utah State University’s Caine Performance Hall Monday, Oct. 9, at 7:30 p.m.
“Like the best pianists in the world, Hardink is able to draw out sounds from the piano that completely belie the fact that the piano is a percussion instrument,” Cindy Dewey, head of the Department of Music in the Caine College of the Arts, said. “When he plays, it is like listening to a wonderful singer or violinist. There is a sense of line to his playing that transcends what the instrument should be capable of.”
Hardink will play a program featuring Beethoven’s “Les Adieux Sonata,” opus 81a, Bach’s “G Major Partita,” a selection of works by Oliver Messiaen, the North American premiere of Ryan Carter’s “Errata” and Liszt’s “Mephisto Waltz.”
The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the CCA Box Office in room L101 of the Chase Fine Arts Center on USU’s campus, call 435-797-8022, or go online to cca.usu.edu.
