International Students Gather at President's Home for Holiday Festivities

More than 75 international students gathered at the President’s Home in early December for an evening of fun and festivity.

Students from all over the world including China, Germany, India, Korea, Russia and the Dominican Republic, joined USU President Stan L. Albrecht and First Joyce Albrecht as part of a month of celebration leading up to the Holiday break.

“This is a chance for the president and me to see how the students are doing and how their experience at USU has been,” said Joyce Albrecht. “It is nice to visit with the students in a relaxed casual environment. I think all of the students had a good time and it is nice to have some social time with these diverse students.”

USU international students represent a small, but diverse population on the university campus. Cultural diversity is important and USU’s Multi-cultural Student Services Office and the Study-Abroad Program Office enhance the recruitment and retention of these diverse populations. USU provides support to international students through programs of academic, leadership and social development.

The USU President and First Lady are committed to increasing the development of sensitivity, understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity through increased communication and interaction among minority students, the university and the community at large.
