Ice Cream Store Gets a Face Lift — Cast Your Vote for Aggie Ice Cream's New Look
The Aggie Ice Cream and Cheese sales store, located in the Nutrition and Food Sciences building at 750 North 1200 E. on the Utah State University campus, is undergoing renovations. At the same time, a survey is being conducted, gathering information on a new package design for Aggie Ice Cream. The survey is available online and those who participate can vote for one of two new designs and get a free scoop of Aggie Ice Cream.
As the store’s first upgrade since it was built in 1976, the complete remodel will improve customer service. It will also better reflect the new look of Aggie Ice Cream, which showcases the student research and hands-on learning involved in its creation, said Don McMahon, a professor in the nutrition and food sciences department at Utah State.
“Aggie Ice Cream is proud to be Cache Valley’s number one tourist destination, hosting visitors from around the world who come to get a taste of Utah State,” said McMahon. “The new look of the store will give a fresh face to an old tradition.”
The new look also includes new package design, signage, mailers, flavors and a new Web site, all in an effort to highlight Utah State.
With the re-opening of the store, Aggie Ice Cream will debut its new addition of pre-filled individual cups that will be available at Aggie events and used for student recruitment, alumni and community activities.
The target re-opening for the store is February 2005. Progress of the remodel can be followed by visiting www.aggieicecream.com.
During the remodel, ice cream and cheese can be purchased between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at a temporary store in Room 208 of the NFS building. For special orders, contact Joe Bailey at (435) 797-2112 or order online.
Aggie ice cream can also be purchased in half gallon cartons at local Macey’s and Lee’s supermarkets, ice cream cones at Gossner Foods cheese outlet on 1000 West, and Hyer’s Chevron in Smithfield.
