Hunt or Be Hunted
A poisonous newt native to the Pacific Northwest protects itself from predators with a toxin powerful enough to stop most animals in their tracks. But a recent Utah State University study reveals that the garter snake has evolved small genetic changes that enable it withstand the newt's deadly poison and feast on its prey unharmed.
