Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences College Recognizes Faculty

Gary Kiger, dean of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at Utah State University, announced faculty and staff awards for the 2004-05 year.
 
Teacher of the Year is Kelli Cargile Cook of the English Department, who also took the teacher award in the college's humanities division. Teacher of the Year in the social sciences division is Derek Mason from Sociology, Social Work and Anthropology, and Kevin Doyle of the Theatre Arts Department is arts division Teacher of the Year.
 
Other faculty awards include Denise Conover, History Department, Advisor of the Year; Dennis Hassan, Theatre Arts, Artist of the Year; Michael Sowder, English Department, Humanist of the Year; and Doug Jackson-Smith, Sociology, Social Work and Anthropology Department, Researcher of the Year.
 
Graduate students were acknowledged for their contributions. Megan Sibbert Inclan, English Department, was named Teaching Assistant of the Year, and Tracy Williams, Sociology, Social Work and Anthropology, was honored as Research Assistant of the Year.
 
The History Department's Monica Ingold is Employee of the Year in the Classified division, and Star Coulbrooke of the English Department is Professional division Employee of the Year.
 
The college's departments and programs individually recognized the year's top students. Three students from each department were honored for top achievements.
 
"We have bright students, talented faculty and committed staff in the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences," said Dean Gary Kiger. "While we celebrate the outstanding accomplishments and contributions of these award recipients, we also appreciate the time, energy and talents that all of our faculty, staff and students contribute to the success of our many programs."
