Homecoming—A Week Rich in Tradition
The tradition of Homecoming has been a part of Utah State for more than a century and has been in full swing this week. The fun continues this weekend with the Homecoming dance, parade, football game and other activities.
On Friday, Oct. 8, KUTV 2 News will be broadcasting the morning show live from Utah State from 6-8 a.m. at the Stan Laub Training Center. It will be the ultimate pep rally! Athletic Director Randy Spetman will be on hand, along with football players, coaches, cheerleaders, Big Blue and the band.
Utah State accomplishments will be highlighted at the event as well, including our famous Aggie Ice Cream. There will be an Aggie Ice Cream eating contest and voting for a new flavor.
Utah State will also highlight student experiments that have flown in space as well as the moon buggy that was built by students.
In addition to all of these activities, ASUSU and alumni will be talking about all of the upcoming homecoming activities and how to get involved. ASUSU will be serving a free pancake breakfast and giving away prizes. All students are encouraged to come dressed in their craziest Aggie Blue.
The Aggie Blue Pride Light atop Old Main will also light the night sky Friday to honor Homecoming weekend and symbolize Aggie tradition, heritage and pride.
The Alumni Association will also honor Utah State alumni this weekend by presenting its yearly awards. This year the Distinguished Alumnus award will be presented to David Sant and the Grand Marshall presented to Vern Buehler. A new award, the Distinguished Young Alumnus, will be presented to Jason Lindsey.
