Homecoming 2014

There’s plenty to do at Utah State University’s Homecoming 2014 Oct. 6-11. The week is full of activities for everyone to once again celebrate the theme “Once an Aggie Always an Aggie.”

The week provides traditional favorites, including the rite of passage to full “Aggieness” — “True Aggie Night” Friday Oct. 10 at midnight. Earlier that night there’s the “True Blue Homecoming 5k” with registration and check-in starting at 4 p.m. at the David B. Haight Alumni Canter. The race starts there at 6 p.m. Those running are asked to wear their Aggie gear for the race that circles USU’s beautiful main campus. Proceeds benefit the USU Spirit Squad Scholarship. The race includes a warm up with the Aggie Cheerleaders and Aggiettes and pictures with Big Blue. There are awards for top finishers and spirited Aggie fans.

The week includes a variety of reunions for USU organizations and don’t forget the Homecoming parade Saturday morning in downtown Logan.

Saturday afternoon provides plenty of time to enjoy a walk around campus before heading to a tailgate or the ever-popular Utah Agricultural Products BBQ provided by USU’s College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences. Aggie fans can celebrate at the All Aggie Pregame Party when 800 East — Lars Hansen Drive — is turned into one large street party between 1000 north and 1400 north two hours before kickoff time for the homecoming game between the Aggies and Air Force. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. with the game broadcast live on ESPNU.

Homecoming is a time to honor some of Utah State University’s best, and this year Dale Mildenberger is the Homecoming Parade Grand Marshal. Other honorees include Steve and Rachel von Niederhausern, Young Alumni of the Year, and Nate and Laurel Cannon Alder, Alumni of the Year.
