Homecoming 2007 -- Celebrate Tradition: Once an Aggie, always an Aggie

The Utah State University blue light atop Old Main will light the night sky Friday, Sept. 21, to honor Homecoming weekend.

No homecoming week would be complete without a Friday night Homecoming dance or a chance to become a True Aggie under the blue A atop Old Main. The dance begins at 8:30 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center on the university campus. At midnight, students may gather with a partner on USU’s Quad to become a True Aggie.

 

A tailgate will be held Saturday by the USU Alumni Association in the Romney Stadium parking lot at 4:30 p.m. The Homecoming game is against San Jose State and starts at 6:05 p.m. Fireworks will follow the game.

 

The Aggie Blue Pride Light atop Old Main lights the Cache Valley night sky as a symbol of Aggie tradition, heritage and pride. Homecoming is a part of this heritage, contributing to the quality of Utah State.

 

Here’s a roundup of what’s going on. There are many events scheduled through Saturday night.

 

 

Free treats will be offered at noon on the Taggart Student Center patio.

 

ASUSU and HURD are sponsoring the Football Coaches Show at the Taggart Student Center Marketplace at 6 p.m.

 

A free movie (to be announced) will be shown in the TSC Ballroom at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

 

 

The Homecoming Golf Tournament begins at 8 a.m. at the Birch Creek Golf Course in Smithfield. Everyone is invited.

 

The Alumni Association is sponsoring the Golden Aggie Opening Luncheon in honor of the class of ’57. The luncheon will be in the Alumni House at noon.

 

The Convocation lecture features Dick Hoyt of Team Hoyt at 12:30 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center Ballroom. Everyone is invited.

 

Former football players are invited to the North End Zone Complex tour between 2-4 p.m.

 

Grand Marshals, Alumnus of the Year, Distinguished Young Alumnus and their families are invited to the Dignitary Reception at the Alumni House at 5 p.m.

 

A Cheer and Dance reunion, sponsored by the spirit squad, begins at 5 p.m. at the Copper Mill Restaurant in Logan. Past spirit squad members are invited.

 

Everyone can enjoy the Homecoming Banquet beginning at 6 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center Ballroom.

 

The Homecoming dance begins at 8:30 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center Ballroom, Lounges, and Skyroom.

 

Gather around the “A” just north of Old Main at midnight to celebrate True Aggie Night.

 

 

Everyone is invited to the Run, Walk or Roll 5k, sponsored by ASUSU, Center for Persons with Disabilities and Sigma Phi Epsilon. The 5k begins at 8 a.m. at the beginning of the parade route in downtown Logan.

 

The Dignitaries Breakfast is at The Bluebird Restaurant in Logan at 8:30 a.m. 

 

The Homecoming Parade begins at 10 a.m. on Main Street in Logan. Everyone is invited.

 

Former student leaders are invited to a Student Leader Reunion in the Taggart Student Center at 1 p.m.

 

The College of Agriculture is hosting an Ag Day Barbecue at the Track Stadium at 3:30 p.m. Everyone is invited.

 

The Student Alumni Association reunion begins at 4:30 p.m. in the North End Zone Plaza.

 

Everyone is invited to “Tailgate” in the Romney Stadium parking lot at 4:30 p.m.

 

The Football Kickoff is at 6:05 p.m. at Romney Stadium.

 

After the game, enjoy the fireworks at Romney Stadium.

 

ASUSU is sponsoring a Homecoming “Afterparty” for students after the game. The Afterparty is in the Taggart Student Center.
