HASS Hour Features 10-Minute Informational Sessions

The HASS Hour, a monthly series offered by the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at Utah State University, puts a faculty member in the spotlight to share insights, research or creative activity. Faculty members are featured in a 10-minute “TimePiece.” A portion of socializing and fun is served along the way as well, said Gary Kiger, HASS dean.

The March event departs slightly from the format that usually features a faculty member. Instead, the college’s three-time forensic conference champions will present “Champions that Talk the Talk: Speech and Debate as an Aggie Tradition,” Thursday, March 22, at the Italian Place, 48 Federal Avenue, Logan. 

 

USU’s speech and debate team have a three-year run as the Northwest Forensic Fonference champions. USU teams took the conference in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Home to the debate team is the Department of Languages, Philosophy and Speech Communications.

 

HASS Hour begins with a social hour at 5:15 p.m., and the TimePiece begins at approximately 6 p.m. Food, including hors d’oeuvres, is served during the social hour. Admission is $10 for individuals and $18 for couples.

 

“Please join us monthly for these enjoyable sessions,” Kiger said. “I’m often surprised at the breadth and depth of information that our faculty provides. I always learn something and I always have fun.”
