Grateful For New Grub
It's likely that New England settlers dined on striped bass at the first Thanksgiving dinner, says USU historian Jay Anderson. The fresh fish was probably served in stew prepared by American Indians and must have been a welcome treat, he says. "(The settlers) were used to eating food that was rotten, terrible and awful."
