Fundraising Carnival Friday on the Quad

The Museum of Anthropology at Utah State University hosts a fundraising World Carnival to be held on the USU Quad Friday, April 29, from 4-6 p.m.

According to museum director Molly Cannon, activities will be fun and educational. Proceeds benefit the museum.

“The mission of the Museum of Anthropology is to educate the local community about the fields of anthropology and museum studies,” Cannon said. “The museum connects diverse populations with a variety of ideas, including how knowledge is shared, how human lives change and how art has been produced throughout history.”

The museum offers many interactive experiences that are inspiring to individuals and families of all ages, Cannon said.

Activities at the museum are free but fundraising events like the April 29 carnival are necessary to support the activities.

“The carnival makes it possible for the museum to continue its goal of connecting people across cultures and time, at no cost,” Cannon said. “Earnings will benefit future exhibits and museum programs.”

Those who would like to participate can purchase a punch card for activities upon arrival. Punch card proceeds will be deposited into the museum development fund. The punch cards can be used for a variety of activities that include international games, including a mancala. Henna artists will be on hand and there will be sumo suits, Aggie Ice Cream, raffle prizes, a food truck and more, according to organizers.

Sponsors for the Museum of Anthropology hosted World Carnival include Aggie Ice Cream, Jamba Juice, Le Nonne, Lee’s Marketplace, Natural Grocers and Twizzleberry.
