Four File for ASUSU President

February 14, 2006 | Excited candidates filed in the TSC auditorium Monday to discuss rules and regulations in beginning this year's ASUSU elections.

 

"The experience itself is unbeatable, it's worth it," motivated Quinn Millet, current ASUSU President.

 

Elections committee members encouraged students to follow the rules, be fair and have good attitudes while doing so.

 

"Do what you say you are going to do, how you conduct yourself during the elections is a reflection of how you are going to be while in office," one member stated.

 

Laurel Evans, Cam Lee, Noah Riley and Zach Ames, this year's presidential candidates, all say they are excited about the upcoming elections and are looking forward to getting involved.

 

Cam Lee said he wants to be elected because he loves working with people and seeing progress made. He said his main goal if elected is to form an entrepreneurship program which he said will connect USU with the world and ultimately increase funding through better resources.

 

"Networking, it's all in networking," Lee said.

 

Noah Riley said his main focus is campus unity through increased club involvement and better opportunities for involved students.

 

"Utah State is such a diamond in the ruff that nobody knows about, it has high quality education and high caliber. I just want to build it up and promote it," Riley said.

 

Laurel Evans said a few of her goals if elected to office are to get a credit union ATM in the TSC and lower student fees.

 

"I care about the students. I care enough to want them to get involved in the elections and pick the best candidate," Evans said.

 

Zach Ames said he feels the main focus should be to empower students and give them the resources they need for the future. Ames said he wants to turn the student center over to the students so they feel more involved and welcome.

 

"Don't vote for the names, vote for quality," Ames advised students planning to get involved in the elections.

 

Campaigning will start on Wednesday, March 1. Candidates encourage students to get involved in the elections and make decisions based on the qualities of each individual candidate.
