Former USU Trustee and Friend, Jay Dee Harris Dies
Jay Dee Harris, 89, died Sept. 24, 2006, at his home in Tremonton.
“The Utah State University community is saddened to learn of the passing of Jay Dee Harris,” said USU President Stan Albrecht. “As a former Board of Trustee member, Jay Dee played an important part in the growth of Utah State. His generosity was instrumental in establishing many programs at USU, especially in athletics. Jay Dee was a great friend and the academic center that bears his name continues to benefit the students of Utah State University. We express our sympathy to his wife, Alice, and their family.”
Harris was born April 25, 1917, in Tremonton, Utah. He was a well known businessman. In addition to his service on USU’s Board of Trustees, Harris served on the Utah Board of Regents, as well as the Board of Fellows for Southern Utah University. He was the recipient of two honorary doctorates.
