Former Doctoral Student Appointed New Minister for Kingdom of Jordan

Dr. Tayseer Smadi, former doctoral student in Utah State University’s Economics Department, part of the College of Business, was sworn into office in February 2005 by Jordanian King Abudallah as the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation for the Kingdom of Jordan.

Dr. Smadi graduated from Utah State in 1998 with a doctorate in international trade and economic development. Prior to his new appointment, Smadi served in the Central Bank of Jordan and the Arab Fund for Socio-Economic Development. He also held various positions at the Planning Ministry, including director of the Studies and Policies Department and acting director of the Human Resources Department.

Utah State University graduate Tayseer Smadi was sworn in as the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation for the Kingdom of Jordan.
