Flu For The Birds

Most cases of avian influenza infection in humans have occurred because of close contact with live birds, says USU poultry specialist David Frame. Commercial poultry producers in the U.S. routinely test flocks for bird flu. Also, the virus is easily deactivated through food processing procedures. Bird flu currently poses more of an economic threat to the poultry industry than a health threat to humans.
