Falling for Color

Many people enjoy viewing the colorful show Mother Nature provides in autumn. The leaves change colors when the days shorten in the fall and the cells at the base of the leaf begin to swell, reducing and finally cutting off the flow of water and food between leaf and tree. As the chlorophyll fades, yellow and orange colors emerge.
