Experience the "Road to Broadway" at USU
Tony Award-winning playwright, Stephen Karam speaks at USU Friday, Oct. 6.
Part concert. Part interview. All free. This year’s The Road to Broadway at the Caine College of the Arts at Utah State University features Tony Award-winning playwright, Stephen Karam.
Karam’s plays include The Humans (Tony Award, Obie Award for Playwriting and Pulitzer Prize finalist), Sons of the Prophet (Pulitzer Prize finalist), Speech & Debate and columbinus. His adaptation of Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard, starring Diane Lane, premiered on Broadway as part of Roundabout Theatre’s 2016 season; his film adaption of The Seagull, starring Annette Bening, premieres in 2017.
“Through the grants I have received from the Marie Eccles Caine Foundation-Russell Family, the Tanner Charitable Trust and differential tuition, I want to expand my classroom beyond my majors and provide something to the whole community,” Spelbring said. “We also invite local high schools and other theater and music classes. When you’re able to expand your teaching beyond the classroom, the learning happens in other areas.”
