Evans Book Awards Winner Prince Plans Book Signing of Arrington Biography

Gregory A. Prince, author of an authoritative biography on famed Mormon scholar Leonard Arrington, will be available for a public book signing during the annual ceremony featuring winners of the Evans Book Awards sponsored by the Mountain West Center for Regional Studies at Utah State University.

Prince received the Evans Biography Award for his book, Leonard Arrington and the Writing of Mormon History (University of Utah Press, 2016). Pete Fromm won the Evans Handcart Award for his memoir, The Names of the Stars: A Life in the Wilds (Thomas Dunne Books, 2016).

Prince will speak about his research and sign copies of the book beginning at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at the Haight Alumni Center on the USU campus. Fromm cannot attend the ceremony but will discuss his book in a video to be shown at the event.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Evans Awards highlight new non-fiction books whose authors or subjects are part of what author Wallace Stegner called “Mormon Country,” that region historically influenced by Mormon institutions and social practices. The Evans Biography Award carries a cash prize of $10,000, while the Evans Handcart Award includes a prize of $2,500.
