Essentials of Effective Proposal Writing Covered at Workshop

Utah State University’s Center for Integrated BioSystems holds a proposal writing workshop for undergraduate students, graduate students and their mentors Friday, Feb. 6. The workshop will review the essentials of proposal writing to assist students to become more proficient in the grant-writing process.

Students who have received grant funding will bring examples of their work for faculty and peer review. The workshop is held in the Biotechnology Building, Room 103, from 2-4 p.m.

The undergraduate Center for Integrated BioSystems Research (uCIBR) has encouraged students to write proposals for research in 2009. Undergraduate students who are conducting biotechnology research in a Utah State University laboratory may be eligible for financial support.

The workshop has been successful in the past giving students — and faculty — an edge in writing proposals.

The Center for Integrated BioSystems was established more than five years ago to enhance the study of agriculture and life sciences through an integrated and collaborative approach. Collaboration starts at the student level and helps students receive funding and support for their research. Students join together from across campus to network, gain valuable skills and establish cross-disciplinary collaborations.
