Economics and Finance Department Recognized for Teaching Excellence
Utah State University recognized the Economics and Finance Department in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business with the 2013 Department Teaching Excellence Award.
The award is the highest honor given to academic departments and recognizes department cultures that meaningfully value learning excellence.
USU’s Economics and Finance Department focuses on “pragmatic teaching” that provides students with different ways of thinking as well as analytical tools to help them cope in an ever-changing environment, said Tyler Bowles, department head for Economics and Finance.
“Our economics and finance faculty have demonstrated tremendous leadership in creating a culture that is rigorous and student-centered, and we see the fruits of this labor every day through the success enjoyed by our students,” said Dean Douglas D. Anderson. “I am so proud of Tyler Bowles and his entire team.”
Students studying economics and finance at Utah State have outstanding opportunities to learn about the diversity of global societies to help prepare for engagement on the world stage. The department sets high expectations for its award-winning faculty with regard to teaching.
The award selection committee consists of faculty, students, administrators and a member of the USU Board of Trustees.
