Distinguished Professor and Author to Speak on Work Life Law

Joan Williams, distinguished professor of law at the University of California Hastings College of Law and director of the Center for WorkLife Law, will speak to Utah State University administrators, faculty and graduate students about work life law on Dec. 6 and 7.

An expert on work/family issues, Williams is the prize-winning author of several books, including Unbending Gender: Why Family and Work Conflict and What To Do About It. She is nationally known for working within academia to document workplace bias against mothers. She has given more than two-hundred speeches and presentations, including appearances at virtually every leading U.S. university.

 

On Dec. 6, Williams will present a “Women and Leadership Seminar” at 4 p.m. in room 101 of the Merrill-Cazier Library. On Dec. 7, she will meet with female graduate students during a breakfast at 8:30 a.m. in room 101 of the Merrill-Cazier Library, followed by a “WorkLife Law Forum” at 10:30 a.m. Williams will then meet with deans, associate deans and department heads for a luncheon at noon at the Alumni House.
