Dinosaurs at USU's Science Unwrapped Friday, April 4
In 2005, paleontologist Mary Schweitzer found soft tissue preserved inside the leg bone of a Tyrannosaurus rex fossil unearthed in Montana. Her discovery sparked immediate controversy because critics argued the tissue couldn’t have possibly been preserved for 68 million years.

Friday, April 4, Utah State University’s Science Unwrapped welcomes Schweitzer, who graduated from USU in 1977. She’ll discuss her continuing research on this remarkable discovery.
A professor at North Carolina State University, Schweitzer presents “How We Know What We Know About Dinosaurs’” at 7 p.m. in the Emert Auditorium (Room 130) of the Eccles Science Learning Center. Her talk is free and open to all ages.
Hands-on learning activities, exhibits and refreshments follow Schweitzer’s talk.
Hosted by USU’s College of Science, Schweitzer’s presentation is the final event of Science Unwrapped’s spring 2014 “Science Superpowers” series.
