Dillon Maggard Named Mountain West Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Utah State senior Dillon Maggard has been named the Mountain West Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, it was announced Tuesday by the conference office.

Overall, it is the second weekly cross country honor for Maggard this year and in his career, having won two MW track and field weekly honors last season.

Maggard was also named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division I National Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Last week, the Kirkland, Wash., native won his second race of the year as he placed first out of 359 runners in the men’s 8-kilometer gold race at the Lehigh-hosted Paul Short Run with a personal-best time of 23:27. Maggard helped lead Utah State to the team championship as well, as the Aggies finished with 119 points to defeat No. 17 Georgetown, which had 167 points. Overall, 40 teams competed in the race.

Utah State is back in action on Friday, Oct. 6, when the Aggies host the Steve T. Reeder Memorial at 3 p.m.
