Detaining Diabetes

Once known as juvenile diabetes, Type 1 diabetes prevents the body from producing insulin. The disorder can lead to devastating complications such as blindness and heart disease. USU researchers are developing encapsulated insulin-producing cells, which provide support for cell growth and immunoprotection, to combat the negative effects of diabetes.
