Dept. Head Randy Haupt on Board of Directors

Randy Haupt, department head of electrical and computer engineering at Utah State University, has recently been elected to the board of directors of The Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society (ACES).

ACES is an international professional society and a non-profit organization which began in 1986. It provides a forum for issues relevant to numerical modeling in applied electromagnetics, primarily focusing on computational techniques, as well as electromagnetics modeling software and applications.

Haupt has a doctorate in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the USAF Academy.

His election to the board of directors of ACES “lets people know that Utah State is providing leadership in the area of computational electromagnetics and emphasizes the research nature of our college and university,” Haupt said.

His research interests include genetic algorithms, antennas, radar, numerical methods, signal processing, fractals and chaos. He has eight patents in antenna technology and is director of the Utah State Anderson Wireless Center.
