Deep Purple Falls over Sleepy Garden Walls

Lilacs are sturdy, adaptable and forgiving, says USU horticulturist Jerry Goodspeed. “I’ve seen them thrive in over-watered lawns, drought-resistant landscapes and in a gravel parking lot.” The fragrant bush, which blooms in early spring, can be planted in any soil. Lilacs are available in a variety of colors, ranging from white to blue, and deep-purple to wine-red.
